Why Grey Matter Exists

After more than 25 years working in IT and cybersecurity across enterprise environments and municipal organizations, one thing became clear: the businesses that need cybersecurity expertise the most often have the least access to it.

Large companies can afford dedicated security teams, expensive tools, and outside consultants. They have the budget to build layered defenses and the staff to maintain them. But small and medium-sized businesses face the same threats—ransomware, phishing, business email compromise—without the same resources. And most cybersecurity firms are built to serve the enterprise, not the local business owner.

Grey Matter was created to close that gap. Our mission is to give small businesses access to practical, honest cybersecurity guidance without enterprise-level costs or unnecessary complexity. We help business owners understand their risks, make informed decisions, and build stronger security through education, transparency, and real-world experience. Not fear. Not upselling. Just clear, actionable advice.

I have spent my career protecting organizations with dedicated security teams and large budgets. Grey Matter was built for the businesses that do not have those advantages—but still deserve the same level of honest, practical cybersecurity guidance.

What Makes Grey Matter Different

We do not sell fear, complexity, or long-term contracts. We sell clarity, practicality, and honest guidance.

Practical Security

We recommend what you actually need—not every tool or control on the market. Our guidance is scoped to your risk, your budget, and how your business works.

Plain English

Our reports and recommendations are written for business owners, not IT professionals. No jargon, no technical gatekeeping, no assumptions about what you already know.

Transparent Pricing

We publish our prices. No discovery calls that end in a five-figure quote. No surprise invoices. You know what you are paying before we start any work.

Local & Responsive

We serve Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. When you need help, you talk to a person who understands your region and your business—not a remote support desk.
